Books from SPX! Some of my favorites:
Secret Prison 7 Published by Retrofit Comics: Woah! I got this because I knew Ryan Cecil Smith and Mare Odomo were contributors and I was riveted by how bizarre, beautiful, and twisted each entry was. Fantastic weird comics and thoughtful manga review essays inspired by the alt manga magazine Garo in an oversize magazine format. Rating: FUCK.
SF#2 By Ryan Cecil Smith: I’ve actually only read the first two pages of this. But it’s RCS so RATING: PROBABLY STELLAR.
Bits in Multiples of Eight, various artists, edited and published by Jimmy Giegerich: An open-call contribution zines with a lot of talented entries, mostly illustrations in a variety of styles. Also, I’m in it! RATING: POKEMON MASTER TRAINER.
Ojitos Borrosos by Ines Estrada: My favorite thing. I’ve liked Ines’ work for a long time. Bilingual comics stream-of-consciousness diary comics and super fresh fantasy. RATING: A+ 100%.
